Lesley first started her learner journey with Redbridge Institute back in September 2014 when a Google search for Counselling level 2 courses brought her attention to the Institute.  Lesley’s first enrolment was onto an Award in Early Years setting Level 1.  In the same academic year Lesley also completed Substance Misuse Level 1, Mental Health Awareness Level 2 and the Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 2.  Since then Lesley has completed a variety of courses every year here at Redbridge Institute, she progressed onto Counselling Level 3, and completed IAG Level 2, Mentoring level 2, Introduction to Teaching Adults Level 2 and Life Coaching level 3.

In 2019 Lesley changed her direction and Completed E-Safety, Sage and Bookkeeping Levels 1 and 2, Business Admin Level 2, and as of 29th June passed IAB Bookkeeping Level 3.  Lesley is still working towards completing one of the online courses – Understanding Behaviour that challenges.

Lesley said that she has enjoyed the experience of learning at Redbridge Institute and has grown with it during her time here.

Lesley has especially enjoyed her accounting classes with tutor Pratibha and said that during all of the courses the tutor always encourages the class to work together to complete and pass the course, gives 110% to her students, is very supporting and encouraging and goes way and above what she needs to do as a tutor, putting on extra revision classes and setting her time aside for extra one to ones for those who need it.

As a result of discussing with Pratibha what Lesley wants to do in the future Lesley applied and has been volunteering with the Citizen Advice Bureau as a call advisor for the last four months.  Lesley said it is a really rewarding role and is hoping this can open doors for her to be able to work with their accounting department in the future.  Lesley is also contacting RCVS as a result of attending the Institutes Careers Event to see if she can find a volunteer role in bookkeeping to help boost her career in the near future.  In the meantime Lesley is going to support her two sons with their own business ventures in sales and painting and decorating and will be putting to good use the skills she has gained to act as their accountants.

Lesley also mentioned the support she has had from our Learning Advisers with regards to the online course she is currently completing.  They have been really good with communicating to her what is going on with the course and have kept her up to date throughout.
