Redbridge Institute is the London Borough of Redbridge’s adult education service. Funded through the GLA’s ASF (Adult Skills Fund), we provide part-time courses and training programmes to over 3,500 local adults every year.

We have a proud 120-year heritage of transforming lives through adult education, and we continue to evolve to meet the changing skills needs of our residents and communities. We have delegated authority, meaning that our activities are overseen by a Governing Body.

Our Governors are volunteers who help shape the strategic direction and educational character of the Institute. They are drawn from the local community and bring their expertise, skills, and experience to the role.

Chair of Governors - Employer Interest

Lesley has had a distinguished career as a senior leader in the public sector, and most recently has just retired from her role as Interim Chief Executive of Redbridge Council.

Lesley is a non-executive Director at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals and at Barts Health. She is also a trustee of a charity that works with young people who have experienced the care system.

“I am very excited to be working with Redbridge Institute. I began my career working in community training and employment projects in east London so the work of the Institute, in supporting residents into training and employment, is very close to my heart” explains Lesley

Principal Will Pickford said “I’m absolutely delighted that Lesley has joined us as Chair of Governors. We are very fortunate to be welcoming someone of Lesley’s calibre, experience and knowledge of Redbridge and its communities and I’m very excited to be able to work with her as we continue to develop the adult education service across the Borough.
