1. Our Commitment

Redbridge Institute is committed to creating a learning environment where everyone is treated fairly, with respect, and free from discrimination. We welcome learners of all backgrounds and will not tolerate discrimination based on age, disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, culture, or any other protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010.

Inclusion also applies to those adults who are disadvantaged and/or who may face other barriers to their learning and/or well-being, including those without Level 2 English and/or mathematics.

2. Your Rights as a Learner

  • To learn in an inclusive, respectful environment.
  • To be treated equally regardless of your background or circumstances.
  • To raise concerns about discrimination, harassment, or bullying without fear of victimisation.

3. Your Responsibilities

  • Treat staff, fellow learners, and visitors with respect.
  • Follow the Learner Conduct Procedure and this EDI Policy.
  • Report any incidents of discrimination or harassment to your tutor or Student Services.

4. What We Do

  • Promote equality and celebrate diversity through teaching, events, and learner engagement.
  • Provide high-quality support for learners with additional needs, barriers to learning and those without level 2 English and/or mathematics.
  • Challenge discrimination and take action where necessary.
  • Monitor learner outcomes to ensure fairness and inclusion.

5. If Things Go Wrong

  • Breaches of this policy will be addressed under the Learner Conduct Procedure. Serious or repeated breaches may lead to disciplinary action.

6. Access and Support

  • This policy is available on our website and explained during learner induction. For advice or to report concerns, enquiries@redbridge-iae.ac.uk
