Brent Council Visit

Strengthening Partnerships Through Information, Advice & Guidance

We were delighted to welcome Trever Baxter, Assistant Head of Brent Start, part of the London Borough of Brent Council, to our centre this December. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase our Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) provision and to engage in meaningful discussion about how we can continue to strengthen learner support through collaboration and shared expertise.

During the visit, Trever joined one of our IAG sessions and gained insight into the work we are doing to ensure learners receive clear, timely, and impartial advice at every stage of their learning journey — from initial enquiry and admissions through to progression and next steps. He was particularly impressed by the learner-centred approach of our team and the systems in place to support informed decision-making and positive outcomes.

The visit also allowed for productive conversations around potential partnership opportunities, including the sharing of best practice across boroughs and the alignment of Information, Advice and Admissions Guidance processes. Discussions focused on how strong, well-embedded IAG supports learner retention, progression, and overall success, while also meeting key quality and Ofsted expectations.

We value opportunities like this to reflect on our practice, benchmark our processes, and explore innovative ways of working together with partner organisations. Strengthening external relationships is a key part of our commitment to continuous improvement and to ensuring our services remain responsive to the needs of learners and local communities.
