A group of our accounting learners had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament. The visit included a guided tour, giving learners a closer look at the historic building and how the UK government operates.
For many, it was an eye-opening experience. One learner shared, “It’s like being behind the scenes,” while another found it “exciting to be part of all of this.” The difference between the House of Lords and the House of Commons was particularly interesting, helping learners understand the roles of each chamber.
A highlight of the visit was watching a live debate from the public gallery. Learners saw MPs discussing reforms on disability, which made the experience even more engaging. “Exciting to see the House of Commons through the public gallery where a debate was taking place on reforms of disability,” one learner said.
Their tutor also found the visit fascinating commenting “Believe me, the debate was exciting to see even for myself, and seeing Wes Streeting present at the House of Commons as well was a bonus!”
