Shelan Mohammed
Shelan is studying on the Childcare level 3 course. Her journey in this course began with the burden of negative feedback from past learning experiences, leading her to doubt her abilities and potential for further education. Overwhelmed with emotions and lacking confidence, Shelan faced an additional challenge as someone with dyslexia, anticipating obstacles in her learning process. However, despite these initial concerns, Shelan has become one of the top students in the class. Her remarkable achievements showcase her resilience, determination, and the incredible progress she has made.
Shelan’s transformation is truly inspiring. She has embraced confidence, fearlessly taking on challenges and making valuable contributions to discussions. Her growth is evident in various aspects, from consistently achieving her set targets to successfully completing all assignments. She has overcome self-doubt, showing remarkable resilience. Her outstanding observation at her setting is a testament to her dedication and progress.
Shelan still has a year left of level 3 childcare but has received an exciting job offer from the nursery where she dedicated her time as a volunteer during this course.
I am very proud to have worked with Shelan and witnessing her transformation and growth has been incredibly meaningful to me.

Bibi Pamphile
Bibi has been attending the Teaching Assistants Level 2 course after completing the Teaching Assistants Level 1 course last year.
She found the level 2 course quite challenging. The increased demands of the higher level combined with the difficulty in securing a placement and some health issues she was facing, resulted in her falling behind in her assessments and being in danger of not completing her course.
Bibi considered leaving the course but had a discussion with her tutor and the Learning Support Assistant who encouraged her to continue and supported her in her efforts. After managing to secure a placement, Bibi set out to complete her course.
She put a lot of effort into catching up with previous assignments and started going to her placement 4 days a week, catching up with her placement hours and being a real asset. All her efforts and hard work paid off and she managed to complete her course.
Bibi has now enrolled onto the Level 3 course and is hoping to get a job in a school soon. She is an inspiration to all learners who might be struggling with completing their course and a great example on how talking to the tutor/LSA and asking for support can make a big difference.

Adejoke Onuaguluchi
Adejoke is from Nigeria and has been in the UK for 22 years.
She is an inspiration to the class. She has a level of self awareness and a maturity that is an example to others. She is a team player and enjoys working with her peers. She turns up to class every week, even when she is in pain. She approaches every task with enthusiasm. She completes her homework often ahead of time. She takes on board the feedback and is improving.
Adejoke is a fighter who has to overcome daily battles with her health – she has mobility issues, and despite a series of painful procedures, her eyesight is failing. She also has dyslexia. Nevertheless she turns up to class every week, ready to go and ready to learn.
Her future plans include her becoming a social worker for children. She is determined and demands the best for herself and will no doubt be a great advocate for children.

Stephanie Zara Jade Webber
Stephanie is a mother of 5 who has had to overcome many obstacles in her life; from her own physical and mental health to learning difficulties and disabilities as well as discrimination. But her determination, perseverance and hard work have helped her work through these issues.
She has been an inspiration to her peers in the classroom. She is gentle, kind, helpful, thoughtful and proactive in supporting her peers; inside and outside the classroom. She is very perceptive of other people’s needs and is always willing to help where she can. Stephanie is a joy to have in the class, she has inspired and motivated her peers (in their own words) to work hard and better themselves. She takes on initiative and she is currently organising, on behalf of her peers, a day trip to a museum (related to a class topic).
She has had 100% attendance, even when she was experiencing bereavement in the family, and she has met every deadline set. Her work is of exceptional quality. Even though at the moment she is going through a difficult time with a court case, her commitment and dedication to her studies do not take second place; she knows what she wants and is working hard to achieve it.
Her plans for the future is to progress all the way to a university degree in order to practice as a counsellor.
