The installation of new solar panels at Redbridge Institute, includes an on-site solar plant with 68kWp of panels, which will generate around 880kWh/kWp. The adult education service use approximately 145,000 kWh of electricity annually, so this will replace about 27% of Redbridge Institute’s current needs, saving 12t of CO2 emissions and approximately £12,000 per year.
Works were carried out by Solar for Schools, an organisation working with schools across Redbridge, to support the transition towards net-zero and empower students to create a net-zero carbon future. We will be rolling out a complimentary education programme to support our learners develop their understanding of renewables and their carbon literacy.
